My 89 year old grandmother has Alzheimer's and she is now in a care home. She's been there for 14 months now and she loves it there. The carers are amazing and the home itself has a lovely atmosphere.
Nan's been coughing a lot again, so she was taken for an x-ray. Her lungs have a 'change' since the last one. We've been told that it could be an infection, or "something else".
Why people are reluctant to say the word 'cancer' is beyond me. It's not as though you can catch it simply by saying it out loud.
She's going to have another x-ray in 6 weeks to see if there are any changes from this one. If it is something bad, then there's an option of putting her through chemotherapy. She'll be 90 in July and she won't want this, and to be honest, I don't think it's a 'fantastic' idea to put her through that, what bloody quality of life would she get, going through crap like that??
I'm just hoping that it is just an infection and we're all worrying for no real reason.
Can't 'talk' anymore, too depressed
